Kathleen

Office Manager

I was born in Aberdeen, WA and I’ve lived in Montesano my entire life. I attended South Puget Sound Community College where I became a Dental Assistant. I have 2 boys that are my everything! The best part of my job is getting to know the patients and having great co-workers that are my work family. I enjoy watching my 2 boys play sports, gardening, cooking and we say one of our favorite things to do is nothing- we love being home, hanging out and we love game nights.

I chose to work in dentistry to help people love their smile. It’s the first thing I notice when looking at someone. I have worked in this office for over 32 years.

29 Years!

Why did you choose Dentistry and where did you study?

I fell into dentistry in 1996 after a preschool mom friend mentioned a temporary position in the office she worked in. I applied for the job; and have been doing it ever since. I actually thought I wanted to be an accountant and am glad I changed my mind!

I have been married to my husband, “Murph” for 31 years and have a 30-year-old daughter and a 27-year-old son.

When you aren't in the office, how do you pass the time?

Gardening, taking long walks with my chocolate lab Otis, reading a good book, kayaking.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Back to New Zealand. I’d love to spend several months exploring from the top of the North Island to the base of the South Island!

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

I grew up here in Hoquiam, Washington, and went to Hoquiam High School. I love the artistic side and helping people understand dentistry. I went from being an on-the-job trainee to being in dentistry for 27 years.

My favorite part about dental medicine is that I love assisting in surgeries, oral surgeries are my favorite.  Also, making temporary crowns and bridges since this is the artistic side of dentistry. A fun fact about me is that I love to organize spaces. I love tutorial videos on skincare, makeup, and eating right.

When I am not in the office, I like to watch or go to any type of racing due to my family racing in cars and motorbikes. I love going to sporting events, concerts, mini weekend getaways, and exploring places.

If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to Israel, because I would love to walk and see the biblical history and their culture.

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

I knew at a young age that I had wanted to enter dentistry, I had hated my smiles and never smiled in photos. I got into orthodontic treatment and it changed my life! I knew that after hating my smile so long and someone making me feel so confident that I wanted to do the same thing for others. Although I did not go into orthodontics myself I have done server full mouth reconstruction cases, as well as becoming an EFDA that I can use my creative side to fabricate beautiful fillings.

I graduated Dental Assistant training in Kenmore, WA and did my EFDA training at South Puget Sound Community College. I started my career as a Dental Assistant and quickly moved into an Office Manager / Treatment Specialist role. I loved being able to see the other side of the patient experience and learn all there was to every working part of the dental office! Although management was challenging and an amazing opportunity I was missing being able to do procedures and work with my patients on the clinical side.

Erika

Dental Hygienist

Originally from Hoquiam, WA, I became a dental assistant in 2001 and went back to school to become a dental hygienist. I went into dentistry because I love to interact with people and help them feel more confident about their smile and dental experience. I have made some great friendships while in dentistry.

When not in the office, you can find me golfing when the weather allows for it. But in the winter months, I love to go skiing in the mountains. I love doing anything friends and family, really. A fun fact about me is that I have never broken a bone. And if I were to travel anywhere, it would be a tropical beach. I LOVE hot and warm weather.

I grew up in a small town called Ravensdale, Washington. I don’t have kids of my own, but I do have a niece and nephew that I love spending time with.

I love to create relationships with my patients while helping them live healthier lives. I want my patients to be as comfortable as they can while they’re in my chair.

In my free time I like to spend time with my boyfriend, friends, and family. In the summertime I like to plant flowers, go hiking, and use my Cricut machine.

I became a certified dental assistant from Renton Technical College in 2008. Eleven years later, I became a registered dental hygienist from Pima Medical Institute.

I’m originally from Spokane but loving this side of the state. I’m a mother of four kids – two boys and two girls. In my spare time, I enjoy being outside with my family, exploring the outdoors and playing sports. I also love to read and bake.

I love dentistry. I love the interaction I get and information I learn from people from all walks of life. I enjoy the opportunity to help people, work one on one, and making a difference with a smile. I genuinely care about those I work with as well as my patients. I try to adapt the experience for all I see trying to make patients feel educated, at ease, and cared for. Also, this job is flexible for being a mom, which is my top priority.

I graduated from Brigham Young University with my dental hygiene degree, and have working as a dental hygienist for 10 years.
